The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), established in 1967, promotes regional cooperation and integration. It drives economic growth and stability in Southeast Asia, with a combined GDP of over US$3 trillion. ASEAN consists of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, forming a vibrant market for economic development.

Quick ASEAN facts:

Collectively, ASEAN member countries’ populations were the 3rd largest in the world in 2022.
In 2022, the nominal GDP of ASEAN economies reached US$3.6 trillion, positioning it as the 5th largest in the world and the 3rd largest in Asia.
ASEAN’s economies collectively grew by 5.7% in 2022, maintaining an average annual growth rate of 4.4% during 2010-2022.
ASEAN’s total trade in goods increased by 14.9% reaching US$3.8 trillion in 2022.
In 2022, intra-ASEAN remained the primary export destination for the region, accounting for 22.9% of total exports, while China emerged as the largest importer for ASEAN, also at 22.9%.
With a growth of 5.5%, ASEAN remained an attractive hub for investment in 2022, attracting US$224.2 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI).
In 2022, internet subscription across ASEAN member countries rose to 74.3 out of every 100 individuals, up from 66.6 in 2021.
The ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA) was endorsed in August 2023 and aims to accelerate ASEAN's transformation into a leading digital economy that fosters greater digital cooperation. It paves the way for regional digital integration and inclusive growth and development.
At the current trajectory, ASEAN’s digital economy will grow 3x to reach US$1Tn+ by 2030.
